Danny Lebern GloverĀ (born July 22, 1946) is an American actor, film director, and political activist. He is best known for his co-starring lead role asĀ Sergeant Roger MurtaughĀ in theĀ Lethal WeaponĀ film series. Glover has had a variety of film, stage, and television roles. He starred as the husband toĀ Whoopi Goldberg's character, Celie in the celebrated literary adaptation of The Color Purple, and as Lieutenant James McFee in the filmĀ Witness. He had leading roles in other films includingĀ To Sleep with Anger,Ā Predator 2,Ā Angels in the Outfield, andĀ Operation Dumbo Drop. He won theĀ Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead for his starring role inĀ Charles Burnett'sĀ To Sleep with Anger. Also, he has had prominent supporting roles inĀ Silverado,Ā Witness,Ā A Rage in Harlem,Ā Dreamgirls,Ā Shooter,Ā Death at a Funeral, Beyond the Lights,Ā Sorry to Bother You,Ā The Last Black Man in San Francisco,Ā The Dead Don't Die,Ā Lonesome Dove and Jumanji: The Next Level. Glover earned top billing for the first time inĀ Predator 2, the sequel to theĀ science fictionĀ action filmĀ Predator. During his career, he has also made several cameos, appearing, for example, in theĀ Michael JacksonĀ video "Liberian Girl" of 1987. In 1994, he made his directorial debut with theĀ ShowtimeĀ channel short film Override.
