Laura Ruth HarrierĀ (born March 28, 1990) is an American actress and model. She began modelling at 17 after aĀ location scout discovered her. She moved to New York City, where she continued modelling and was represented by agencies such asĀ IMG ModelsĀ andĀ Wilhelmina Models. She modelled for various mainstream magazines, appeared in campaigns forĀ Urban Outfitters,Ā Macy'sĀ andĀ Steve Madden, and was the face ofĀ Garnier. After appearing in several commercials and student films, Harrier pursued acting and studied at theĀ William Esper Studio. She was first recognized for her role asĀ Destiny EvansĀ in the 2013 one-season reboot of the AmericanĀ soap operaĀ One Life to Live.
Harrier's role asĀ Peter Parker's love interest, Liz Allan, inĀ Spider-Man: HomecomingĀ brought her international attention in 2017. She gained further recognition for portraying civil rights activist Patrice Dumas inĀ BlacKkKlansmanĀ (2018), receiving aĀ Black Reel AwardĀ nomination. In 2019, she starred as an art student in theĀ independent drama filmĀ Balance, Not Symmetry. In 2020, she received further attention for starring as Camille Washington in theĀ NetflixĀ miniseriesĀ Hollywood.
Harrier is an ambassador forĀ Louis Vuitton and has modelled for other luxury brands likeĀ Bulgari,Ā Calvin Klein, andĀ Boss. She is outspoken about issues related to civil rights and equality and frequently uses social media to raise awareness.
